Twice a day, I blend fresh kale/spinach, frozen banana, frozen strawberries, frozen apples, frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries. Once a week, I buy fresh fruit and then I put the combination in a ziplock and I freeze it so that my smoothie is slushy!! I guess you could just use crushed ice but my method works best for me.
I don't taste the spinach or the kale. I also blended a hand full of almonds once and they blended well also. This blender blends very SMOOTHLY!! Be sure to follow the directions.

I did a lot of research into juicers and blenders, and I am very glad I got this blender instead of a juicer. Now all the good fibre is part of my diet instead of being thrown away in dry pulp (though of course juicers have their place too!). My family and I have been making delicious smoothies and Nutriblasts every day. Nothing else has motivated me this much to fill my cupboards and fridge with a variety fruits, veg, nuts and seeds. I am never bored either because the possibilities are endless for creating varied drinks. I am recommending this to everyone I can. On the technical side, the motor is powerful, the blades slice through virtually anything you add to the mix, and the cleanup is a cinch. We use it multiple times a day for veggie fruit blasts, protein shakes and baby food. We now have 2 to keep up with demand (we live with my in - laws). It has two important features that make it better than a conventional blender : extremely quick and easy to clean and it blends food very quickly (less than a minute) into an exceptionally fine shake. The milling blade also works very well. We cannot imagine life without our Nutribullet!
